Northern Nights (SOCAN 2018) When we were young we spent time here At this northern lake, with friends so dear We ski and swim are days away You were mine and I thought we'd stay Our love was strong on summer nights But times of changed we moved away Our hearts stay close, no matter where we stray We're back for a while, time off from trade Our memories return, as the stresses fade Our love was strong on summer nights CHORUS The air is cool, and the sand is white Fire is warm, stars are bright There's magic in those northern lights Our love was strong on summer nights being here with you feels so right On this beach today with you There's peace and joy, in the water blue Deep and calm and everywhere Like the precious memories we all share Our love was strong on summer nights When we were young the sun was hot That lake was cold but our hearts were not Boats went fast, the days passed slow I never thought about growing old Our love was strong on summer nights CHORUS repeat Gary Card - All rights reserved.

Manitoba Flood of 1997 (SOCAN 2018) Modern day disaster, nineteen and ninety seven This power that has been unleashed, can only come from Heaven Friends & family threatened, what will the verdict be As we helplessly watch devastation, on our nightly TV. South of use it has begun, wheat fields now are lakes Confirming all our darkest fears, the flood is on the make Grand Forks has been taken, “now Whitey’s is no more”! Can Winnipeg respond in time, to even up the score? CHORUS The people of a city, come together, one and all To dike against the waters, when they hear the radio’s call Organizing stations coordinate, men, women & supply And the volunteers arrive so fast, determination in their eye Not since 1950, has there been such a devastating thing Heavy snowfall, 60 inches, most coming late in spring As we see the water everywhere, we ask "where do creatures go"? A floating carcass brings the news, stranded animals on the shore A call for help is heard far and wide, across this great country People are responding, "the true north strong and free"! The Militia has been summoned, to help lessen people’s strife Sandbags filled and dikes are built, to protect a city’s life CHORUS - Repeat (but substitute) ...you might think that they can fly! Message received, houses threatened, planners take their aim In a hour there’s a 1000 strong, to form a human chain Sandbags passed, from hand to hand, are then piled upon the bank To halt this mighty water, that’s proceeding like some tank Work and school have been suspended, only one thing now to do To save our precious Winnipeg, I wish I there too The Brunkhild dike in 14 Days, how could this thing be done You’re ready for the water’s crest, the battle has been won! CHORUS - Repeat (but substitute) ...this must be some new kind of high! People came together, responded to the call, to minimized the damage, for the benefit of all To save a city from the flood, the challenge was not small... There’s more to this than meets the eye, what can the message be? ...Imagine on a world wide scale, the power we could see... Gary Card - All rights reserved.

New Endings 04:24
New Endings (SOCAN 2018) It’s a new beginning, as summer closes down A freshness comes upon you and it turns your head around Coolness is in the air, you have clarity of mind Another season’s finish, you let yourself unwind A sense of starting over, can be the boost you need To reset all your counters, to plant a brand new seed You leave the tarmac quickly, and fall into the sky If the void does not consume you, you know that you will fly CHORUS It’s a new beginning, another brand new start The certainty included, that comes straight from the heart The dying of an old way, makes room for something new The passing of a sad time, makes way for the new you The spirit comes to move you, as you stop to know it’s there a peacefulness surrounds you, you can feel it in the air It’s almost like the draft, you feel, as you approach the winter’s door You wonder how you missed it, so easily before CHORUS One day they are here with you, another day they’re gone Can the change be this substantial, I’m asking in this song Could it be a new experience, on a different plane Could it be a new beginning, or has it always been the same CHORUS ( and repeat Chorus)... Fin de siècle (SOCAN 2018) intro - Chaotic, Fractal, Order... Chorus What is this 3D chameleon, on the non-art scene we see Counterfeit forms created, to bridge the boundary Infecting the mass culture, to contaminate the norms Neo-Geo, “ménage à trois”, existential art in form When I was only 10 or 12, painted hands were all around On canvases, in a gallery, in Winnipeg downtown Although the colors pleased me, I couldn’t understand The pictures that you painted, or the meanings that they spanned Roy’s booklet is familiar but the letters here are wrong A peanut man, a women’s heel, images so strong "Is art really the topic"?, I ponder for a while The strangeness of your magazine, is currently on "FILE"! Chorus What is this 3D chameleon, on the "non-art scene" we see Counterfeit forms created, to bridge the boundary Infecting the mass culture, to contaminate the norms Neo-Geo, “ménage à trois”, existential art in form We attended your rehearsal for the Pageant (of the dames) As the audience joined in the show, we were caught up in your games Performance art, GI’s triangle, "Miss 84", “The Dishes” We waited her pa-vil-i-on, to question Orwell’s wishes Bridge - I think I may finally see the "General" point you made Things are never as they seem, when we look another way Untitled ICONS, novelties, & trinkets in "Yen Boutique" Pre-formulated products, coming from the art we seek Soft and cuddly harp seals, and "Baby Makes (it) Three"! “Believe none of what you hear & only half of what you see” Your intensified normality, transposes every strain multiples of AIDS posters on billboards and subway trains We collaborate in meaning, "Placebos for the mind" The junctures between artificial, and what’s accepted in our times Chorus What is this 3D chameleon, on the non-art scene we see Counterfeit forms created, to bridge the boundary Infecting the mass culture, to contaminate the norms Neo-Geo, “ménage à trois”, existential (Thought) in form "Postcard Exhibition", GI’s history revealed Humor and reversal, of assumptions that seemed sealed I ”get the picture” Felix, I can see it in your roots As you "straddle function & fashion", in your hard hat and your boots Bridge - I think that I may finally see, the "General" point you made Things are never as they seem, when we look the other way Gary Card - All rights reserved.

about

In the Spring and Summer of 2018, I recorded 4 songs that I had written between 1993 and 1997. Never having recorded them, my son Harley initiated a Project to capture them, enhance them with some of his musician friends/ colleague's special talents and have the final music, edited and mastered by seasoned professionals.

I think the result is worth the listen. ...I hope you do too!
